About Carbonode

Carbonode brings together the public tenders that governments across the Americas publish on their official open-data portals. You can search them in one place, in English or Spanish, with the deadline, value and sector at a glance. The data is refreshed every hour.

Who we are

Carbonode is an independent project run from Colombia. It isn't affiliated with any government, and it doesn't receive bids or act on behalf of any public entity. It's free to use and funded by advertising.

Why it exists

Every country publishes its tenders on its own portal, in its own language, with its own codes and search tools. A company that sells solar panels, software or engineering services across the region has to check each one separately. Carbonode puts them side by side, so you can filter once and see every country together. Energy and climate tenders get their own section and weekly roundup.

What we add to the official data

• Translation. Titles are machine-translated into English and Spanish with open-source software running on our own servers. The original title is always shown next to the translation.
• Sectors. Each tender is tagged with sectors such as energy, water or health, based on keywords in its title. The tags are approximate and meant for filtering.
• A summary on every tender: who is buying, what the deadline is, how long the bidding period runs, the value in local currency and approximate US dollars, and the steps to bid on that country's portal.
• Trends: how many tenders each country publishes, in which sectors, for how much, and who buys the most.
• Country guides: how to register as a supplier and how public procurement works in each country we cover.
• Weekly roundups of energy and climate tenders, written from the data.
• Source status: when we last read each portal, and how complete its data is.

How it works

Every hour, Carbonode reads each portal's open-data feed and stores the tenders. It translates the new titles, tags them by sector and updates the counts. We leave out data about individuals, such as personal contractors and ID numbers. Every tender links back to its official notice, which is the only binding version. Always check the documents, dates and conditions there before you bid.
